Bio.
Damien Higginbotham (aka Damo Higgo) is an award winning screenwriter from Sydney, Australia.
He has worked on TV projects in development at Comedy Central in the US, NBC Universal in the UK, and the ABC in Aus.
Damien wrote and starred in the comedic short film And Don't Forget to Subscribe which screened at film festivals across the globe, picking up multiple awards including 'Best Comedy Satire' at the Canadian International Comedy Film Festival, and 'Best Comedy’ at the Indie Short Fest, Los Angeles.
A TV adaptation of the short film was optioned in the UK by BAFTA winning producers and shopped to the BBC and Channel 4. His other original TV pilot scripts The Liquidators and Pop Up received semifinal placing in the ScreenCraft Comedy Screenplay Competition and the New York International Screenplay Awards respectively. Damien received funding from Screen NSW to develop a series with comedian Tanya Hennessy.
Damien completed a Masters of Arts in Screenwriting at AFTRS (Australian Film Radio and Television School). He is a screenwriting tutor and lecturer, teaching at AFTRS, UTS and Improv Theatre Sydney (ITS). Damien has studied acting at NIDA and holds a Bachelor Degree in Music and English from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
Damien co-wrote and performed in the short comedy series for the ABC We Live To Science Another Day, and the web-series' Me & My Housemates and How To Sydney.
Damien's numerous TV and film acting roles include A Place To Call Home for Showcase, Zelos an Australian feature film, and Australia's War for SBS. He has written and performed in sketch shows for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, the Sydney Comedy and Fringe Festivals, and is a regular improvisor and standup comedian on stages around Sydney.
